COVID-safe dental practises

How the Wickham Terrace Dental team are working to keep you safe

Thanks to all Queenslanders pulling together and working hard to stop the spread of coronavirus, we’re really pleased that we’re now operating as normal at Wickham Terrace Dental. Our team are now providing all dental treatments to our patients once again.

Of course, we take our responsibility to our patients and our staff seriously. So we’re doing our bit to prevent the spread and ensure everyone’s safety and health.

Here are a few of the ways our team are working to ensure we keep up world-class infection control protocols when you visit us.

Additional infection control protocols during the pandemic

Australian dental practices have some of the world’s highest standards of infection control. Known as Universal Precautions, these procedures mean we act as though everyone in the practice has got some kind of communicable disease – even when everyone is completely healthy.

These precautions include using masks and gloves, wiping over all of our instruments and surfaces twice in between patients, and importantly, using the latest infection control protocols in our sterilising system.

Along with our standard high quality of infection control, during the pandemic we are also implementing additional procedures.

Pre-screening before your appointment

Either our Practice Manager or our Front Office Coordinator will be in touch with you prior to your appointment to do some medical screening.

If you have any signs of illness, or you’ve recently been in touch with someone who has, we will ask you to reschedule your appointment.

Hand hygiene & social distancing

There’s no doubt we all understand the importance of hand hygiene these days! So we will ask you to thoroughly wash your hands with soap and water in our basin when you arrive at the practice.

We’ve set up our waiting room to allow for the recommended social distancing so that you can comfortably and safely wait for your allotted time. We also stick carefully to the recommended Australian Standards for cleaning our chairs, doors, and all elements of the waiting room areas.

Pre-rinse before procedures

In the surgery before your procedure we’ll ask you to do a pre-rinse with Hydrogen Peroxide or Xadine for thirty seconds. By reducing the bacteria load in the saliva, this helps to protect our staff and our patients.

Your safety is our utmost priority

As life slowly begins to return to normal, at Wickham Terrace Dental we are doing everything we can to ensure the safety of you, our patient, and our staff.
