Published by [Wickham Terrace Dental](https://latestnews.wickhamterracedental.com.au/author/wickham-terrace-dental) ## How to choose the right toothbrush for your smile With so many toothbrush options available over the shelf today, it can be hard to decide which toothbrush is the best option for maintaining your oral health and ensuring a bright, white smile. At Wickham Terrace Dental we can settle this debate by revealing that a soft bristle toothbrush is a far better option for maintaining a healthy smile! ## The downsides of a hard bristle toothbrush Though you might think a hard bristle toothbrush will be more effective in removing plaque from your teeth, in fact they can actually damage your periodontal tissue or even damage your tooth enamel! For this reason, it's important to take great care when using hard bristle toothbrushes must be used with great care to avoid doing more harm than good to your teeth and gums. Fortunately, there is a better option. ## Choose a soft bristle toothbrush For a toothbrush that will effectively remove plaque from your teeth and gums - without damaging your sensitive mouth tissue - it's a good idea to opt for a soft bristle toothbrush. Along with a good quality fluoride toothpaste, this will be very effective in removing harmful plaque from your teeth. If you have particularly sensitive teeth or gums, you can even choose a very soft bristle toothbrush. Of course, if you're ever unsure about the best toothbrush option for your oral health, the Wickham Terrace Dental team will always be happy to offer expert advice. **To discover more about maintaining your oral health, or to arrange an appointment at our dental practice located in Brisbane’s CBD, please [contact us.](http://www.wickhamterracedental.com.au/contact-brisbane-city-dentist/)** Tags: [best toothbrush](https://latestnews.wickhamterracedental.com.au/topic/best-toothbrush), [hard bristles](https://latestnews.wickhamterracedental.com.au/topic/hard-bristles), [soft bristles](https://latestnews.wickhamterracedental.com.au/topic/soft-bristles) [Back to Blog](https://latestnews.wickhamterracedental.com.au) **Address:** Morris Towers, Level 9/149 Wickham Terrace, Brisbane City QLD 4000 07 3831 3031 Call [07 3831 3031](tel:0738313031) [contact@wickhamterracedental.com.au](mailto:contact@wickhamterracedental.com.au) - [Home](https://www.wickhamterracedental.com.au/) - [Our Services](https://www.wickhamterracedental.com.au/our-services/) - [Our Team](https://www.wickhamterracedental.com.au/about-brisbane-affordable-dentist/) - [Contact Us](https://www.wickhamterracedental.com.au/contact-brisbane-city-dentist/) - [News](https://latestnews.www.wickhamterracedental.com.au/) - [Terms](https://www.wickhamterracedental.com.au/terms/) - [Privacy](https://www.wickhamterracedental.com.au/privacy/) - [{url={type=EXTERNAL,%20content_id=null,%20href=https://www.facebook.com/pages/Wickham-Terrace-Dental/538518306193032,%20href_with_scheme=https://www.facebook.com/pages/Wickham-Terrace-Dental/538518306193032},%20open_in_new_tab=false,%20no_follow=false,%20sponsored=false,%20user_generated_content=false,%20rel=}]({url={type=EXTERNAL,%20content_id=null,%20href=https://www.facebook.com/pages/Wickham-Terrace-Dental/538518306193032,%20href_with_scheme=https://www.facebook.com/pages/Wickham-Terrace-Dental/538518306193032},%20open_in_new_tab=false,%20no_follow=false,%20sponsored=false,%20user_generated_content=false,%20rel=}) - [{url={type=EXTERNAL,%20content_id=null,%20href=https://www.instagram.com/wickhamterracedental/,%20href_with_scheme=https://www.instagram.com/wickhamterracedental/},%20open_in_new_tab=false,%20no_follow=false,%20sponsored=false,%20user_generated_content=false,%20rel=}]({url={type=EXTERNAL,%20content_id=null,%20href=https://www.instagram.com/wickhamterracedental/,%20href_with_scheme=https://www.instagram.com/wickhamterracedental/},%20open_in_new_tab=false,%20no_follow=false,%20sponsored=false,%20user_generated_content=false,%20rel=}) ©Copyright 2014 – 2023 | Brisbane City Dentist | Wickham Terrace Dental.
